About the course
TraumaWise is a comprehensive series designed to equip foster carers, youth workers, and frontline professionals with a clear, compassionate understanding of trauma and its impacts. Through the ten lessons, you'll explore the foundations of trauma, how it affects the brain and body, and how to support children and young people through safety, stability, and connection. Grounded in neuroscience with embedded practical application, this series guides you through key concepts like the Window of Tolerance, Polyvagal Theory, and how mirror neurons work — all explained in simple, accessible language. You’ll also reflect on your own experiences, explore with case studies, deepen your understanding of the lived experiences of young people in care, and develop strategies for providing consistent, emotionally attuned care. Whether you’re new to trauma-informed care or looking to refresh and deepen your approach, this course will provide the support you need!
Robin
Robin has worked in child protection and foster care for over 10 years. She’s supported children in residential care, walked alongside foster carers, and trained staff. Over the years, she’s learned just how important trauma-informed care really is, for children and young people as well as those who care for them! Robin is passionate about sharing everything she’s learned about trauma in a way that’s practical, real, and easy to understand.
